Kirkwood Lake Boulders** Some cool boulders in a great setting
Approach: 3 minutes to the closest boulder near the pond. From the first pond you can see the Birthday Boulder on the peak on
your right and heading down the hill on the slab veering rightish will put you at The Government Cheese Boulder.
Ambiance: **** Great setting with great granite slab, ponds, and trees.
Parking: Their are a couple spots on either side of a rock outcrop at a rock slide area sign.
Kids/Dogs: Great area for both
Shade: Varies some boulder have a lot some have very little.
Rock Type: Some of the rock is great some is dirty.
Notes: At almost 8000 feet this area is cooler then most around.
Directions: Take US 88 over Carson Pass and once past the Kirkwood Entrance .5 miles past pull over on the right at the rock
slide area sign.
